A bit about me…
(why I’m qualified to help you build the website of your dreams)
Hi, Gaye here – and I’ve been where you are now.
I know how hard it is to be in business, study, and raise a family.
Simply Savvy Web was born after 20-odd years of working in the IT industry. I fell into IT after winning a computer in a raffle – I was so excited to learn how to use it I enrolled at TAFE and before long moved on to Murdoch Uni to gain my degree in Computer Science. All while raising a family as well.
In 2015 I decided I wanted to build a future for myself rather than be stuck in a job counting down the days to retirement! So, with no real plan, not a lot of business sense, and no money, I resigned from my job and jumped head-first into my own business.
I soon discovered I had a flair for web design and a passion for helping others grow their business too.
My happy space is watching my students learn how to conquer their tech phobias and gain the confidence to build and manage their own WordPress website.
I had created a website on my own before but having learned with Gaye guiding me has been next level. Understanding the background work and realising what is required for Google to recognise your site in a search has been very eye-opening.
Most importantly, Gaye is very knowledgeable, supportive and patient and gives you the freedom to learn for yourself, if that’s what you choose.
How does it work?
Once you enrol in Jumpstart you'll get access to the introductory page with video overview, and be invited to schedule your kick-start call
In our Kick-Start call we'll discuss your goals and choose your template, then I'll show you how to find everything and answer any questions you have
Your chosen template will be installed and configured for you with my hosting provider, using your domain (or a staging domain if you don't have one)
You now have the reins, and all the step-by-step guides and checklists you need to personalise the website template and make it yours!
Once you've completed customising your new website and adding your content, let me know and I'll give it a once-over to make sure everything is hunky-dory

What is the Savvy DIY Website Jumpstart?
The Website Jumpstart is a complete toolkit for creating your own website, including a website template so you’re not starting from scratch, set up ready for you (so you don’t have to sweat the tech stuff) plus self-paced step-by-step online training modules to give you the skills and confidence you need to create a website that reflects the real you.
It’s aimed at solo and micro service-based business owners who want to learn to do things the right way, the first time.
What makes the Jumpstart toolkit different to others?
There are lots of website templates available out there, that’s for sure!
Here are a couple of key components most others do not include:
- The template installed, configured, and hosted for you, so you don’t have to deal with the tech yourself
- A kick-start call to get you started on the right foot
- Ongoing support with access to a real human when you have questions
Plus, additional training modules (and workbooks, checklists and templates) to give you a better understanding of the three things a website needs to succeed:
- A strategy and roadmap to achieving your website goals
- A design that creates a great user experience for your visitors
- Content that grabs your target audience’s attention and gets you found on Google
What's included in the website template?
The templates include the key pages needed for a typical service-based solo or micro business, such as Home, About, Services (plus service sub-pages), Blog and Contact, plus sales, landing and thank-you pages.
There are currently two available with more in the pipeline.
How long will it take me to complete my new website?
The Jumpstart toolkit includes a starter website template set up and hosted for you, saving you loads of time and allowing you to jump straight in.
Creating content is always the most time-consuming aspect of building a website; the Content That Converts module in the Website Success video series contains guides and templates to ensure you have everything prepared.
The Build & Launch modules will take you step by step through adding your content and making the starter template your own – you could complete it in a weekend if you wanted to (but as I said, you need to prepare your content first).
What happens after I sign up?
Once you’ve completed the check-out process, you will be redirected to the Savvy DIY Website Jumpstart membership page. Please watch the introductory video first, make sure you join the private Facebook community, and then schedule a time for your complimentary kick-start call.
You will also receive an email confirming your enrolment, and you’ll get a further email within the next couple of days with the details of what we need to set up your Starter Site.
What payment options do you provide for clients?
We offer a simple check-out process using Stripe as our payment gateway. Direct deposit is also available if preferred, please get in touch if you would like to request this option.
The program has an up-front payment option as well as a payment plan with 3 instalments.
I could really just do this myself, couldn’t I?
Yes you sure could! You just need to arrange hosting, learn how to use cPanel (the hosting backend admin area), install and configure WordPress, then purchase, install and configure your theme and plugins, then create your pages from scratch, etc, etc.

How can I contact you if I need help?
The program includes access to a private Facebook group where you can get all your questions answered plus ongoing tips and tutorials. This group allows others to share ideas and feedback and help out as well.
I can also be contacted via email, and I will do my best to get back to you within 24 hours on weekdays, either with a direct answer or with a short screencast video.
What if I just want you to do it for me?
That’s certainly an option! Just get in touch and we can discuss what you need.
Do I need to buy a domain?
Yes, you will need to purchase a domain – I recommend Australian company Conetix for domains, as they have good pricing, an easy-to-use console for domain management, and excellent customer service.
A domain should cost you around $20 per year.
Do I need to arrange hosting and install WordPress?
WordPress is installed and configured as part of the initial starter site included in the toolkit.
Your site will include the essential WordPress plugins you need for security, spam filtering, backup and performance.
Also included are 12 months of hosting with my provider, Conetix, along with a free SSL certificate. After the first year, hosting can be moved to your own account with Conetix, or you are free to move your site to another host if you wish.
What exactly is Divi?
Divi by Elegant Themes is a WordPress theme that includes a visual page builder. It’s been around quite a few years now and has a huge user base – which means ongoing support and development of the theme features.
It has lots of design options built right in, so you don’t need to know how to code to achieve the things you would like.
As with anything there is always a learning curve, so make sure you watch the videos in the Website Preparation module to get yourself ready for the remaining modules.
What sort of things can I add to my website?
WordPress allows you to add just about anything you like to your website. Here are just some things you can easily add:
- Social media links and sharing buttons
- Location maps (Google Maps)
- Contact forms
- Email opt-in forms
- Sliders for images and posts
- Image gallery
- Click to call phone number
- Embed YouTube or Vimeo videos
I’m really not tech-savvy - will I be able to do this?
All of the really techie stuff is taken care of for you – hosting, installation and configuration of WordPress, plus your starter site with the Divi theme installed.
The Divi theme includes a simple drag & drop visual builder, which is super easy to customise.
The tutorials and guides give you step-by-step instructions that will guide you through each step of customising the starter site with your own branding and content. These include video lessons, workbooks and checklists.
What if I already have a website?
If you already have a website and you wish to keep it up and running until your new site is ready to launch, I can arrange a ‘staging’ area for you to complete the program, and then help you to redirect your domain to the new site when you’re ready to launch.
How do I maintain my website after it's launched?
You’ll have access to a bonus module which will give you all the information and confidence you need to ensure your site is safe and secure going forward.
How long will I have access to the toolkit?
Lifetime access means you will have access to all of the training modules, along with support within the private Facebook group, for as long as they remain up and running. Although I don’t foresee it happening for at least a few years (it’s 2024 as I write this), you will be given plenty of notice if they are to be discontinued at any time.
You will also have access to any updates to any of the training modules.
What if I find it all just too hard?
If you’re really struggling to find the time or the patience to get it all done and would just like someone to get it done and dusted for you, this can be arranged for a reasonable fee.
You’ll need to provide all of your content, including text and images, for all sections of the website. Please get in touch for further details.
